Nature of Work: Under the direction of the Police Dept, responsible for the enforcement of animal control laws.

Examples of Duties: Enforces the City's ordinances regulating animals. Duties include patrolling the City for animals running at large. Responds to complaints from the public relating to animals, impounds animals caught running at large, feeds animals, cares for kennels as necessary, removes dead animals from streets. Follows up on complaints for final disposition; prepares necessary reports related to animal bite cases and violations, handles adoptions and redemption of impounded animals, issues vaccination vouchers, and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements: This includes, but is not limited to the following - Must have a valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License with clean driving record, have knowledge of and interest in animals and their habits, knowledge of animal control laws and ordinances, ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with the public, requires physical ability to chase animals on foot when necessary, capture and restrain them, and lift 70 lbs overhead. 

This is a full time position with starting pay of $13.49/hr. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, LAGERS pension, short-term disability/life insurance, and paid time off.
